Looking fashionable when it’s really cold outside isn’t always the easiest thing to do. I’m not the biggest fan of old man winter but it’s definitely here! This tweed and lace grey wool Dolce & Gabbana shift dress is one of the most fashionable work wear items I’ve seen in a while. Black and white is definitely still the perfect color combo for Spring 2014. Cushnie et ochs seems to have made black and white its signature color combo and others like Louis Vuitton have simply done full shows in black or white recently. Balmain sent a beautiful black and white houndstooth coat down the runway (shown above) while Alice and Olivia put together a gorgeous black and white jacket and blouse (shown below).

This weekend I attended the Samantha Black Spring 2014 Show at Holy Apostles which was sponsored by DivaGalsDaily. Samantha Black was recently on Project Runway and I met her backstage along with a few of the models. I also ran into Basketball Wives star Jennifer Williams who walked in the show, Tami Roman and Elise Neal. Other reality stars such as Emily B. and Ariane Davis came to support as well. Last night was a frenzy in Brooklyn and Katy Perry bounced from the Barclays Center to the Brooklyn Bridge in a New York minute. She had the most interesting outfit of the VMAs had to be Katy Perry’s leopard butterfly dress and Roar grill on the red carpet last night. What did you think?

This week I attended one of the MTV VMA Song of Summer Celebration Concerts with Jason Derulo and Timeflies at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. Summer casual was the name of the game as the summer heat made its way ‘back’ to the city. I did my favorite Bebe African Print jumper and Christian Louboutin metallic heels and it was great because it was really hot out!
I met stylists and photographers Rachel and Nicole. Rachel was wearing this great Topshop Motel Skirt I’ve seen everywhere. Anyway, MTV has been doing these concerts all through the week with celebrities like Ciara and Robin Thicke. Are you excited for the VMAs?

This past weekend I took photos with my Songs of Freedom painting and got into a ‘blue’ spirit with sequined shorts from English Rose. I got them from Natre, an amazing, moderately priced boutique in Soho (thank you Natre)! Anyway, I just love the shorts. They’re great for a not-so-casual day or girl’s night out. They’re very comfortable too. I paired them with a black silk top and glitzy accessories and a chunky ring.

This past weekend I spent time with loved ones in my home state of Florida. I got some work done and some play too. The beach was gorgeous. I opted for a completely no-fuss natural look to enjoy the last dog days of summer. It’s always great to visit your hometown and feed your spirit with the love of family. I hope you’re soaking up some of the last rays of summer too and had a great weekend.
