Happy Monday everyone! Last week the Fashion Institute of Technology Future of Fashion Show took the runway in the Garment District and what great looks. I picked five of my favorites, a few of which received awards. Stacy Isaacs was a Critic Award Winner and Chaya Hoffman’s beautiful dress was the People’s Choice Award Winner. All of these looks definitely make a statement and can be rocked off the runway too. Check out more below. Which is your favorite?
The New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2018 Collections have featured many bright colors, especially bright red. It seems that every designer this season has some kind of red in their collection. I guess it’s time to refresh that black and grey that we always have in our fall/winter wardrobes and spice it up with some color. Check out more of these bright red designs below.
The Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2018 show featured models decked out with designs echoing all parts of the world. Head wraps, sequins and detailed beading made its way down the runway in what felt like a trip around the globe. It was truly an eclectic mix of cultural influences. Just beautiful. Check out more of the show below!
The handbags on the runway for this past New York Fashion Week’s Delpozo Fall/Winter 2017 show were just gorgeous! The detail on these are beautiful, I can’t wait to see them retail. Delpozo is one of my favorite brands, they are always very creative. Check out more of the bags below!
So I just love sequins. As a bigAshish fan, I’d find any excuse to wear sequins and would wear it for just about anything. It’s a great way to brighten up an otherwise dull winter wardrobe and that’s just what designers had in mind for New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2017. Milly, Jeremy Scott, Alexander Wang and more all featured a sequined item or two in their fall/winter collections. I just love these pieces.
Last week I also caught some of Nolcha Fashion Week. It was a frenzy backstage but as usual everything came together beautifully. I really liked designs by Christian Benner, Leka, and L Catherine London. I love a good statement jacket and Christian Benner and Leka’s biker jackets scream New York City. I was also able to catch up with Christian Benner later and get a closer look at his jackets which have full rock star status. See more photos below!
With the snow being such a mess and this winter being so cold, I wanted to be comfortable even for New York Fashion Week. I wore my Spring 2014 sequined Ashish sweatpants(NEW SPRING 15 VERSION HERE) and my Michael Kors sweatshirt in a very loose outfit for Nolcha and Hernan Lander shows. I just loved these sweatpants. Want to know why? Well, for one, it is a sweatshirt/sweatpant combo, both super soft and easy to wear! Secondly, sequins just make everything better. Not to mention, they are very big on the Fall 2014 runways. We’ve seen sequins bedazzling the runway from Marc Jacobs, Rodarte, Tom Ford and more.
Speaking of comfort, have you entered my winter comfort GIVEAWAY? Only a few days left! I am all about being comfortable and stylish in this horrible winter we are having. Don’t forget to enter and check out more photos of my outfit and favorites from the Hernan Lander show below!
This week Tracy Reese showed her Fall 2014 Collection full of feathers, sequins, fuzzy fabric and chunky sweaters. It was my kind of comfortable clothing collection. The move to comfort is here to stay in fashion guys. I don’t know if it’s the horrible winter weather we’ve experienced or what but relaxed clothing with a bit of shimmer is what to wear for the winter. Hey, like Marc Jacobs says, happy days are here again.

Being that we’re having one of the roughest winters in the city for the past few years, face masks could actually be the thing to keep us warm. When the Polar Vortex hit and it was about 9 degrees with a wind chill of -20, I saw many people trying to cover their faces with a scarf or pull down a hood. But, let’s face it. Our faces were cold. According to Daily Mail UK and other reports, Chinese women have worn face masks for years to protect themselves from the sun. Supposedly for them it’s about status and skin color. But, what if it was simply a fashion statement?
Givenchy and Martin Maison Margiela have debuted these interesting looks on the runway and like it or not, face masks have to be one of the most creative trends we’ve seen in the past few years. Kanye West wore face masks on his Yeezus concert tour. He is never one to shy away from a new trend but hey, would you try it? Assuming you can see through them, they stretch and are somewhat comfortable, face masks might be a new way to go. And, if they can keep us warm in 20 below Polar Vortex wind chill factors, why not?
