Bougainvilleas on a Sunday and M2 Sketches

So, I started a painting a while ago and did not finish it (which I have several). I went to brunch and snapped a photo by the boungavilleas before going home years ago. Florida has some beautiful greenery in addition to the gorgeous beaches. I was inspired to paint the purple boungavilleas and couldn’t decide between keeping me off the painting or not. In the end, I left me off.

M2 is still alive by the way. Below are some fashion design sketches I started with this painting as inspiration. Right now, I’m trying to do some crowd funding (you can donate here) and looking to bootstrap my way to developing the next collection. Hopefully, everything will work out and you’ll love it. Check out the progress of this painting and more below!

Cargo Pants + Bodysuit

Even though it’s still very hot in Florida, Fall is almost here. What better way to wear pre-fall than some grey cargo pants? Throw on a blazer and this would be a perfect look for fashion week.  This look is great streetwear. I got the ensemble from Micas (cargo pants and bodysuit here), an online boutique I found on instagram. The pants are actually quite light and airy, perfect for a pre-fall look. I wore them with my favorite Isabel Marant black sneaker heels (similar here) that give a little height to my five foot two frame. What casual looks have you been wearing for pre-fall?

The Perfect Outfit for Art Basel Miami from SIR.

Good morning from sunny South Florida! Art Week Miami is upon us and there are all kinds of events, parties and celebrations going on. I stumbled upon a cute, artsy dress from a brand out of Australia called SIR. that is perfect to wear to a dinner or Art Basel event this week. There is also a top and skirt with the same print available as well.

As I say, fashion is art in real life. Are you going to be in Miami this week?

Last Call for the M2 “Sunset on a Florida Parking Lot” Collection

Hey there! So designing this collection was amazing and I am so proud of myself. As you may know, I designed a small spring/summer collection inspired by my Sunset on a Florida Parking Lot painting. Well, this is the last call before I make it an archived collection.

In these photos, I am wearing the Sunset on a Florida Parking Lot skirt as well as bandeau top. They are both on sale and the sequin denim are great for the Fall. And, don’t worry about me, they always say “this too shall pass.”

What’s your favorite piece of the collection?

Mango Season: Mango Daiquiri Recipe

Greetings from sunny Florida! Due to the coronavirus pandemic, I’ve been spending a lot of time at the house and truly enjoying our backyard. My great grandmother (who I never knew) planted several mango trees (in addition to avocado and orange) in the backyard and they have grown to be huge. They also have been bearing a LOT of mangoes in recent years and well, I am mango-d out. We have more mangoes that I know what to do with. So, I’ve been giving some to family and friends and soon I plan on making a few dishes with these mangoes.

I came across The Great Mango Book by Allen Susser and it has plenty of fabulous savory and sweet mango recipes. I’ve tried the shrimp and mango curry recipe, mango cobbler and mango daiquiri recipes. And they have all come out great! So I definitely recommend this book if you have some mangoes. I especially like the mango daiquiri recipe and wanted to share it with you. Check it out below and enjoy mango season!

Mango Daiquiri

Serves 2

1 scoop crushed ice

1/4 large ripe mango, peeled, cut from the pit and diced

2 tablespoons freshly squeezed juice of key lime, or persian lime

1 teaspoon superfine sugar

1/2 cup dark rum

Blend all ingredients in a blender and puree until smooth. Serve in daiquiri glasses.

Quarantine Life

So I hope this blog post finds you well. In the age of the coronavirus pandemic, we just have to be thankful for the little things. I think that’s what this year is trying to teach us. The project that I mentioned when I went down to Wynwood recently has been delayed due to the pandemic. And a lot of other things are up in the air. But that’s life right now. We can only take it one day at a time.

Are you registered to vote? If not, you can register here and perhaps we can make some changes in the world.

I’ve been holed up in West Palm Beach. Was supposed to be in New York today but had to postpone my trip. I’m actually really thankful to be in Florida. The weather has been beautiful. Anyway, have a good weekend and don’t forget to take care of yourself amidst everything going on.

Makeb’s Bagel Run

Good morning! I had a taste for a lox bagel with cream cheese, red onions and capers. I got into them while living in Manhattan and found this cute bagel spot Makeb’s bagels downtown. They have all kinds of bagels as you can see, you definitely won’t be disappointed by their selection. One of these days I have to try a different kind than just regular or whole wheat. Anyway, I’m up virtually attending Milan Fashion Week and am excited about the shows today. What’s been your favorite so far?

We Are Handsome Cheetah Swimsuit

I recently went to the beach in Singer Island, Florida and took some shots on the way to the beach. I just love the sea grape trees that line the beach there, they are so pretty. The way to the beach actually inspired my “Walk To The Beach” painting. Anyway, it’s still hot as hell in Florida and it looks like summer isn’t going anywhere right now. I wore my We Are Handsome Cheetah print swimsuit which I love along with vintage Christian Louboutin heels. Check out more photos below!
