Blast from the Past: Modeling History

Hey everyone, how have you been? I’ll be honest, I have really been going through it. Trying to deal with decisions that were made by men that may or may not have much to do with me. Also, dealing with the good ol American government and police. I know it sounds crazy but it’s the truth.

Anyway, I came across some old photos recently and thought I might share. I indeed studied International Relations at Tufts University and was also scouted for a modeling and acting career. I actually had applied to be a fashion buyer in New York but went into finance and kept trying to build my modeling portfolio. I did a lingerie show for Show Magazine at a New Year’s Eve party in Miami. And I also was a roller skate girl for one of Diddy’s albums in New York.

So, here I am now blogging about fashion and art, and thought I might throw it back. I believe there’s more and one of these days maybe a book or movie on my crazy life will come out. Enjoy!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

Greetings to you from sunny South Florida! Wanted to wish you guys a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Yesterday I went to church in my Ralph Lauren gold metallic skirt, JW Anderson flats and my Karl Lagerfeld handbag. We didn’t get any lights up on the house but we did get a Christmas tree, and it’s perfect. What are you doing for the Holidays?

Sincerely,

Did You Go To The Stores On Black Friday?

Louis Vuitton 5th Avenue

So, Black Friday came and left. Did you go out to stores on Black Friday or just shop online? According to Adobe, U.S. consumers spent a record $6.1 billion online up 8.8% from last year’s $5.6 billion. I know I’ve been shopping online for years now with an occasional trip to a store. Some retail stores have been promoting in-store only merchandise to drive foot traffic but mostly, shoppers seem to be online. Cyber Monday sales totaled about $13.3 billion with a whole cyber week that followed.

Credit card debt continues to soar to $1.17 trillion during the third quarter with a buy-now pay later mind frame. It marks the highest level on record since 2003. Did you buy your gifts on a credit card? All of this shopping is great for the economy but Black Friday in-store shopping just doesn’t generate the huge crowds of the past as many retailers ran promotions well ahead of Black Friday.

What is the future for holiday shopping? Sheerine Reid, senior director of commerce marketing at Coveo, said “AI… enables personalized product discovery and providing tailored recommendations through rich content. Specialized gift guides can help shoppers find the perfect items for everyone on their list, but with AI, you can go even further and start to understand a shopper’s intent, much like an in-store associate would.” With rise of AI and e-commerce, those Black Friday in-store fights might come to an end soon. What do you think?

The Links Inc White Rose “Laissez les Bon Temps Rouler,” Ultimate Mardi Gras Event

How have you guys been? I haven’t been so well at all, it’s like I’ve been under siege. But, yesterday, I was able to support the West Palm Beach Chapter of The Links Inc.’s White Rose fundraiser event. They raise money annually for some of their initiatives, particularly scholarships for young black children. Education and exposure is so important.

I wore a vintage red sequined Dress the Population dress along with a black face mask and boa. Everyone looked great and we all enjoyed a three-course meal along with dancing.
