So I’ve made a big move. I’m now living in Florida but while still in New York I got together with Mariya for some shots. The weather was warm (hence the Tanya Taylor crop top that I found on sale). It’s hot in Florida so I can wear this outfit almost all year!
Recently, I stopped by the new Vivrant Beauty Shop in Harlem for a quick look-through. I met Desiree, owner, who explained to me that most of her products are from black-owned companies. Her shop is full of products for women of color too and I just wanted to grab a handful of the stuff and try it! Brands like Briogeo, Helli Coily, Soultanicals and Oyin all are sold at the store. Most of them are natural products, free of toxic ingredients which is really important.
So, we’re giving away a beauty gift bag! It’s full of beauty goodness: Girl Hair products, Eden Bodyworks Coco Shea Berry Natural Moisture Milk and Natural Smoothing Gel, Mario Badescu Skin Care Line, the most amazing soap from Flo + Theo, and other samples. Simply like ourFacebook page, leave a comment on what you think about the shop, or follow us onTwitter!
This week I stopped by Mahnolo Blahnik’s unveiling of his exclusive Spring BB Collection at Bergdorf Goodman. Impeccably dressed and wearing some beautiful blue shoes himself, he signed autographs and shoes for customers while attendees toasted champagne and nibbled on macaroons. Especially made famous by Sarah Jessica Parker’s character on Sex and the City, Manolo Blahnik has become a household name since joining the Bergdorf family in 1987.
The International Herald Tribune Luxury Conference started this past Wednesday and ends today. Since 2001, it is the annual forum for business and creative leaders throughout the global luxury goods industry. Suzy Menkes, IHT’s Fashion Editor hosts the annual conference and attracts all the top talent in the world.
This year they talked mostly about economic development and fashion in the Mediterranean and throughout Africa. This year’s speakers included Omoyemi Akerele, Creative Director and Founder of Style House Files, a Fashion Creative Development Agency in Nigeria and Manolo Blahnik, one of the world’s most influential shoe designers. I’m glad the Conference is talking about cultures that aren’t always in the limelight.
I was a fly on the wall all week watching some of the sessions and keeping up with @IHTLuxury on twitter! Check out more about the conference here.
