Coterie Spring 2016

DSC02274
Zac Posen

I have to say that I was a little disappointed in what I found this year at ENK Coterie for Spring 2016. There wasn’t that much to choose from or of interest. The shows were cool but let’s be frank, some of the best we saw from New York Fashion Week was the Givenchy show. Anyway, I did stumble upon some cute finds, saw lots of color and sequins (everywhere). Sequins and fringe. That’s definitely going to be big for next year’s spring season.

I also came across Chiara Ferragni’s new shoe collection. It’s very colorful and playful. Some it was a bit too loud for me. Cupcakes and Cashmere launched a new clothing line for Spring 2016. I had no idea she was doing clothing but guess so. I couldn’t get photos though because they hadn’t been released yet but these samples were really cool.

Take a look at what I found!

Smaller, Standout Collections From New York Fashion Week SS 16

Screen Shot 2015-09-21 at 6.27.58 PMSo New York Fashion Week has come and gone and I, of course, got a little cold trying to keep up with everything. But, anyway, I came across a few amazing collections and just had to share them with you.

  1. Alexandra Frida from the Netherlands seen at FTL Moda SS 16 Show at Grand Central. The makeup and hair was amazing and the bright colors are to die for
  2. Tanya Taylor. Didn’t see the presentation but I’m totally in awe of her designs. And you can pre-order them right now!!
  3. Gregorio Sanchez from Mexico seen at Art Hearts Fashion SS 16 Runway show. He successfully paired black and white tile patterns with neon, floral prints. Not easy to pull off. Bravo.
  4. Angel Sanchez. He just sent pretty, colorful, feminine dresses down the runway and well we probably could all use one of those Spring dresses.

Those are a few. Who were you enthralled by this New York Fashion Week?

Sincerely,

“Fashionably-Late”

Black Leather Look at Harlem Fashion Row NYFW SS 16 Pop Up Shop

DSC02155This past weekend I went to Harlem Fashion Row’s New York Fashion Week Shop, Brunch and Be Social event in an all black leather look. I wore a black top from Bailey 44, black leather shorts from Rag & Bone (similar and on sale here as well as these) and black leather heels by Jessica Simpson (similar here).

The venue was gorgeous and I ran into Harriette Cole who showed me some of her knit designs as well as Crystal Streets who had some amazing jewelry. McDonald’s sponsored the event and I got this amazing t-shirt designed by one of their student fashion design competitors. It was a great time!

Fave Looks So Far from New York Fashion Week SS 2016 (And Givenchy! *Swoon*)

Tanya Taylor

These have to be some of my favorite looks so far from the New York Fashion Week Spring 2016 shows. I’ve seen lots of pink, blue, sequins and feathers on the runway and am just loving it. Tanya Taylor had an amazing show and the shoes were to die for! I have to say though Givenchy (watch it here) had to be my favorite show thus far. I feel bad for the model that really fell and bloodied herself but it  didn’t stop a thing. The face makeup, jewelry and craftmanship that Givenchy displayed was just out of this world. Take a look at the show below if you haven’t seen it already and what do you think of the season so far?

Putting Together Some Fashion Week Outfits and Rummaging in My Closet

i-ella-fashion-closetSo as Fashion Month is upon us I have gotten my calendar together and have to just put together those outfits. My closet is full of clothes and shoes and bags. Some that have hardly ever been worn. Some are my ‘faves’ and well, are in need of retirement. Rummaging through my closet became a sort of fun shopping experience. It was like my clothes and I became re-acquainted after some time. I pulled out that amazing winter fur vest and actually started to get excited for cooler weather.

img-thingI also began to realize that although there is much to do about ‘fall’ this and that. Fall just isn’t here yet. And that’s why they have pre-fall. 🙂 Anyway, I came across this amazing pre-fall Herve Leger number inspired by African prints. It’s too much like a Herve skirt from a few years back so I’m not going for it but it surely is beautiful.

By the way, have you seen the fashion shop? It’s updated.

All in all, since it’s still about 90 degrees outside this is the perfect time to catch some pre-fall fashion and sales!

Have you been looking? You absolutely must check out these sales. Peep the list. Everyone seems to be having one.

  1. Nordstrom is having an end-of-summer clearance
  2. Forzieri is having a warehouse sale (great accessories there). They also have a 20% code for new Fall stuff
  3. Boutique1 has some cute shorts and bikinis on sale
  4. Rag & Bone is having a great sale. Not to mention this great palm tree shirt. If it doesn’t scream summer, I don’t know what does.

Happy shopping and let’s enjoy the last days of summer.

Last Days of Summer: Sequined Ashish Crop Top

malindaashishstore1

Hope you’re enjoying your Labor Day Weekend! These are indeed the last days of summer and there is no shortage of heat to go around in the city. I love my pink Ashish sequined crop top for sparkle and comfort in this hot weather. I wore them with jean shorts, vintage pink Christian Louboutin booties and a cute ear cuff (similar here) I found downtown. This is a great weekend for end of summer sales, catch the Nordstrom one here.

Have a great rest of your weekend!

Flowers and Straps for Spring 2016 by Marina Hoermanseder

large_meadow-skirt
I came across this beautiful collection available for pre-order on ModaOperandi recently. The designer’s name is Marina Hoermanseder and she simply created a fashion flower field fantasy land of a collection. The items are just lovely and as feminine as you can get. Wear to tea or brunch with the ladies or just on a day out. Just breathtaking.

China Through The Looking Glass Extended at the Met

RIHANNA-MET-GALA-2015

I’m sure by now you’ve seen Rihanna’s yellow couture Met Gala look by Chinese designer Guo Pei but Have you seen the Met exhibit China Through the Looking Glass? The Costume Institute at the Met has had the exhibit open for a while and it was supposed to be coming down but due to popularity and traffic levels, however, the Met has decided to extend the exhibit until Labor Day! If you haven’t seen it already, you must! It is absolutely fabulous.

“High fashion is juxtaposed with Chinese costumes, paintings, porcelains, and other art, including films, to reveal enchanting reflections of Chinese imagery.” Designers like Paul Poiret and Yves Saint Laurent take inspiration from Chinese culture and aesthetic.

Alexander Wang Cobalt Blue Pants and Neon Yellow Joie Blouse

IMG_7414

So I just love this outfit for summertime, especially for the office. It’s so hot outside that you can just throw on a sweater or blazer for that freezing air condition. I paired a neon yellow Joie blouse with cobalt blue silk Alexander Wang pants for a bright summer look. Of course, I’ve been wearing my neon yellow pumps (similar and on sale here) to add another pop of color to the outfit.

Perfect for summer!
