Charcoal Flower Sketch on Cardboard

Hey there.
Hope you’re week is off to a good start.
So sometimes you just want to sketch on cardboard. Flowers are so beautiful. I was motivated to sketch some on something that could be easily thrown away. It’s like wearing grungy sneakers with a lace skirt…a lovely contradiction of sorts that actually works.
Anyway, enjoy!

FARFETCH Mid-Winter Sale Finds!!
So if you haven’t heard already, FARFETCH is having a ridiculous sale. Over 3000 items are up to 70% off, AND they’re throwing in an additional 20% off with the code x20ff. Yea, I know. Sounds too good to be true right? Well, there are actually some amazing finds! I didn’t comb through all 3000 items but I definitely made my way through a lot of them and found some cute things for myself.
PANTS
Everybody needs a good pair of jeans, these classic Brocken Bow skinny jeans above are on sale for $88. If you want to try something different…maybe you’re going to fashion week in one of the cities next month, try these purple Alberta Ferretti trousers with just a cool t-shirt or sweater.
SWEATSHIRTS
Found a few cute sweatshirts/sweaters. They’re ideal for cozy warmth on a cold winter day. Loving the lace detail on the Adidas by Stella McCartney sweatshirt. Fabulous.
DRESSES
Some of these dresses can work this winter with some tights and even an undershirt. But some of them will be absolutely perfect for the spring!
COATS
Okay so up north it definitely gets old wearing the same coat everyday. Especially that good old black or grey that everybody wears. Hey I love black and grey but there is no better way to spice up a cold winter day than with a bright-colored coat. Delpozo has a beautiful yellow and beige cape coat 40% off. Hurry though because there is only one left.
SKIRTS
There’s plenty of skirts on sale but I have to say this black and white Balmain mini skirt will definitely get worn. You can go to lunch with that…even to work if you do it right.
BAGS
So mind you this Bao Bao Issey Miyake bag is on sale and I hardly ever see any of their merchandise on sale. And kid you not, Ashish, Proenza Schouler and Rebecca Minkoff. High to low… yess!
SHOES
There’s a lot of boots on sale. Now might be the time to try that sexy high-knee boot or even these Versace velvet boots.
If you’re looking for more picks, feel free to visit the fashion shop. Have fun and please do share your finds in the comments below!

Bows and Animal Print at Alexandre Vauthier Paris SS 2019 Couture Week

Paris Spring/Summer 2019 Couture Week is the stuff of creative dreams. I mean, perhaps couture does not sell as well as ready-to-wear but I hope couture never goes anywhere. And for those of you that scoff and say who would wear that?? Well, try going outside of your comfort zone sometimes and re-envisioning what you wear. It is 2019 after all.
Alexandre Vauthier’s PCW SS 19 runway show was absolutely amazing! From the bows to the animal print, I was just so inspired. Bows are actually a big thing on the runway this week. From Christian Dior to Giambattista Valli and more, bows have been all over the runway. I’m here for the feminine addition. Anyway, check out more photos from the show below!

My Veggie-Forward 2019 and Mushroom Spinach Gnocchi

So I definitely gained some weight over the holidays and am trying to get it off now (like everybody else). So I decided to have a very vegetable-forward diet for a while. Notice I said vegetable-forward, not vegetarian. 🙂 Yea, I don’t think I could go all the way vegetarian or vegan but I have made vegetable dishes as the main dish for a few weeks. Have to share a recipe that I absolutely adore! You have to be a mushroom and spinach fan though. I find the more vegetables you eat, the more of a taste for them that you will have.
It’s actually from this great food site called saltandlavender.com which unfortunately is not a vegetarian recipe site but pretty good nonetheless. I had to actually go to an Italian market to grab the potato gnocchi but other than that, the ingredients are pretty easy to find. Check out the recipe below and definitely let me know if you make it!
Creamy Mushroom and Spinach Gnocchi
Creamy and delicious vegetarian mushroom and spinach gnocchi with a creamy parmesan and white wine sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1/2 medium onion chopped
- 12 ounces portobello mushrooms chopped
- 2-3 cloves garlic minced
- 3 dashes Italian seasoning
- 1 heaping teaspoon Dijon mustard
- 1/3 cup dry white wine
- 1 cup heavy/whipping cream
- 1 pound uncooked potato gnocchi
- 1 generous handful baby spinach
- 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
- Salt & pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley chopped, to taste
Instructions
-
Add the olive oil to a skillet on medium high heat. Add the onion and sauté for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally. It’s ok if it becomes lightly browned.
-
Add the mushrooms, garlic, and Italian seasoning. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally, for another 5 minutes.
-
Stir in the Dijon mustard and white wine. Let it bubble for a minute or so.
-
Add the cream and gnocchi. Wait until it starts to bubble again, then cover the pan and reduce the heat to medium-low. Cook for 3 minutes.
-
Stir in the spinach, cover the pan again, and cook for 3 minutes.
-
Stir in the parmesan and season with salt & pepper. Give it a taste; gnocchi should be soft. If not, continue to cook for another few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley. Serve immediately with more parmesan cheese grated over top if desired.
Recipe Notes
- This makes 4 reasonably sized portions. If you’re feeding extra hungry people, I recommend serving this with a salad, garlic bread, and/or something else.
- The gnocchi will cook right in the sauce.

Natasha Zinko Plaid Corset Top and Pink Louboutin Booties
So I hope your New Year is off to a great start! A designer that I had never heard of, Natasha Zinko, out of the United Kingdom makes some really cool, funky women’s wear that will have you turning heads. I found her through FARFETCH and ordered this plaid corset top which is actually 50% off right now. She has another corset top that features a camouflage print available too. If it’s cold where you are, you can actually layer the corset with a white t-shirt as shown on FARFETCH. I wore the corset with my Rag & Bone jeans (similar here) as well as pink vintage Christian Louboutin booties.

A Clean Slate

So I really took some vacation time the last few weeks and did not get much done. I feel refreshed and ready for a New Year. So some of us are scared by the possibilities and the unknown. But we are given this time, energy and health and if you haven’t done it already, the beginning of the year is a great time to reflect and write down your goals. A full on business and personal plan is great and you have to allow yourself to embrace the unknown. That is, give yourself a clean slate.
I read somewhere that it’s a good idea to clean house. Discard things that no longer serve you- including items that remind you of that ex-friend or whoever. Throw out or give to charity those things that you don’t use or wear. Just clean. You’ll be surprised how much energy this can give you.
Then write your plans. But don’t get overwhelmed. Start with day-to-day and month-to-month action items with deadlines. Share your plans to a trusted someone if you so choose and ask them to be your accountability partner. As a financial planner by day, sometimes the hardest thing to do for clients is to simply create a budget. But that’s where it starts.
Hope this helps, you’re not alone. Don’t be afraid of change or the new things that come our way in life. Here’s to 2019.
Sincerely,
“Fashionably-Late”

Tibi Asymmetric Yellow Skirt in Downtown Miami
Happy New Year! Hope you had a great holiday. So believe it or not, the temperature can drop in Florida. LOL It gets into the 50s sometimes. Now I know what you’re thinking. That’s nothing. But this wool yellow Tibi assymetric skirt (similar here) and black cashmere sweater (similar here and on sale) are just the thing for those winter days in Florida. There’s not that many winter days in Florida but you get the point!
I paired the outfit with my classic vintage Prada booties and loved it. This is actually an outfit you can take to the office and out for drinks at happy hour if you so please. And if you’re up north, yellow will definitely give you a little energy in the midst of all that grey and snow.
Anyway, happy 2019! Check out more photos below!
