Velour and Indian-inspired sandals. Brother Vellies presented the cutest shoes at their Spring 2016 show. Loving the design and the feathers. Fabulous!

So as Fashion Month is upon us I have gotten my calendar together and have to just put together those outfits. My closet is full of clothes and shoes and bags. Some that have hardly ever been worn. Some are my ‘faves’ and well, are in need of retirement. Rummaging through my closet became a sort of fun shopping experience. It was like my clothes and I became re-acquainted after some time. I pulled out that amazing winter fur vest and actually started to get excited for cooler weather.
I also began to realize that although there is much to do about ‘fall’ this and that. Fall just isn’t here yet. And that’s why they have pre-fall. 🙂 Anyway, I came across this amazing pre-fall Herve Leger number inspired by African prints. It’s too much like a Herve skirt from a few years back so I’m not going for it but it surely is beautiful.
By the way, have you seen the fashion shop? It’s updated.
All in all, since it’s still about 90 degrees outside this is the perfect time to catch some pre-fall fashion and sales!
Have you been looking? You absolutely must check out these sales. Peep the list. Everyone seems to be having one.
Happy shopping and let’s enjoy the last days of summer.
Sincerely,

Hope you’re enjoying your Labor Day Weekend! These are indeed the last days of summer and there is no shortage of heat to go around in the city. I love my pink Ashish sequined crop top for sparkle and comfort in this hot weather. I wore them with jean shorts, vintage pink Christian Louboutin booties and a cute ear cuff (similar here) I found downtown. This is a great weekend for end of summer sales, catch the Nordstrom one here.
Have a great rest of your weekend!

I came across this beautiful collection available for pre-order on ModaOperandi recently. The designer’s name is Marina Hoermanseder and she simply created a fashion flower field fantasy land of a collection. The items are just lovely and as feminine as you can get. Wear to tea or brunch with the ladies or just on a day out. Just breathtaking.

Recently I attended the one year anniversary party of Brazilian Babes in Harlem! They are a full-service waxing salon that specializing in vajazzling! If you don’t know what that is, just look it up 😉
They had some great cocktails and treats and it was a load of fun. Yandy Smith and her new family from Love and Hip Hop New York came through to enjoy the event as well. It was a good time!

I’m sure by now you’ve seen Rihanna’s yellow couture Met Gala look by Chinese designer Guo Pei but Have you seen the Met exhibit China Through the Looking Glass? The Costume Institute at the Met has had the exhibit open for a while and it was supposed to be coming down but due to popularity and traffic levels, however, the Met has decided to extend the exhibit until Labor Day! If you haven’t seen it already, you must! It is absolutely fabulous.
“High fashion is juxtaposed with Chinese costumes, paintings, porcelains, and other art, including films, to reveal enchanting reflections of Chinese imagery.” Designers like Paul Poiret and Yves Saint Laurent take inspiration from Chinese culture and aesthetic.

So I just love this outfit for summertime, especially for the office. It’s so hot outside that you can just throw on a sweater or blazer for that freezing air condition. I paired a neon yellow Joie blouse with cobalt blue silk Alexander Wang pants for a bright summer look. Of course, I’ve been wearing my neon yellow pumps (similar and on sale here) to add another pop of color to the outfit.
Perfect for summer!

I’m just loving plaid for Fall 2015. Since it’s still really hot this plaid cutout dress makes the perfect transition from summer to fall. I wore it with a simple purple clutch. I got it from a small shop in Soho and it’s no longer on the market but you should definitely check out this Alexander McQueen plaid dress, Rag & Bone jeans, and Equipment shirtdress.

Recently, I stopped by the new Vivrant Beauty Shop in Harlem for a quick look-through. I met Desiree, owner, who explained to me that most of her products are from black-owned companies. Her shop is full of products for women of color too and I just wanted to grab a handful of the stuff and try it! Brands like Briogeo, Helli Coily, Soultanicals and Oyin all are sold at the store. Most of them are natural products, free of toxic ingredients which is really important.
I wore my sequined lips t-shirt, a play off the Markus Lupfer shirts and a pair of ripped jeans (these Treasure & Bond are cool and these Current/Elliott). I paired it with vintage Manolo Blahnik grey booties and my Alexander Wang grey handbag (similar here).
So, we’re giving away a beauty gift bag! It’s full of beauty goodness: Girl Hair products, Eden Bodyworks Coco Shea Berry Natural Moisture Milk and Natural Smoothing Gel, Mario Badescu Skin Care Line, the most amazing soap from Flo + Theo, and other samples. Simply like our Facebook page, leave a comment on what you think about the shop, or follow us on Twitter!
