So, Mother’s Day is May 10 and quickly approaching us. Although most of us can’t take our mom out to brunch, we can definitely still make it a special day for mom! I came across a few cute gift ideas, check them out below.
2. Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Speaker– We are all spending more time at home during this coronavirus quarantine, why not gift mom a great speaker so she can relax outside with her favorite music?
3. Skims Shapewear– We all could use a little shapewear to get in that dress. Try gifting Skims Shapewear to mom, she might really appreciate it!
So I’ve been listening to Beyoncé’s latest album The Lion King: The Giftand have been loving the African beats. I love the international undertone of the album as the music takes me somewhere outside of the U.S. I was reminded of this photo shoot I did some time ago. I guess you can say I have jungle fever. Anyway, what’s your favorite song on the album and have you seen the movie yet?
I’m loving the fashion and visual magic in Solange Knowles’ new Cranes in the Sky music video from her new A Seat At The Table album. Yarn, a gold dress, and a pink coat. They all are so beautiful and unique. Watch the video below!
So, Kendrick Lamar leads the pack with 11 Grammy nominations for his “To Pimp A Butterfly” album and is up for Song of The Year with “Alright.” While it’s rare that I talk about music, one cannot argue that Kendrick Lamar gave us an amazingly raw artistic expression with this album.
In this age of racism, sexism and leaders preaching xenophobia, “Alright” has been used as an anthem of protest for young people. While you may not understand this, the album gives you a starking point of view that cannot be ignored. Congratulations Kendrick on your Grammy nominations, I hope you win them all.
By the way, Jean Paul Gaultier’s “Fight Racism” dressis out of stock but stay tuned for Pyer Moss’s Spring 2016 line. In case you missed it, here are some of my faves from the show.
This week I attended one of the MTV VMA Song of Summer Celebration Concerts with Jason Derulo and Timeflies at the Music Hall of Williamsburg. Summer casual was the name of the game as the summer heat made its way ‘back’ to the city. I did my favorite BebeAfrican Print jumper and Christian Louboutin metallic heels and it was great because it was really hot out!
I met stylists and photographers Rachel and Nicole. Rachel was wearing this great Topshop Motel Skirt I’ve seen everywhere. Anyway, MTV has been doing these concerts all through the week with celebrities like Ciara and Robin Thicke. Are you excited for the VMAs?
This week I stopped by the Milk Gallery for Jonathan Mannion’s Rough Around the Edges Photography Exhibit Opening Reception. Mannion is most known for his iconic Hip Hop photography: the portraits of DMX covered in blood for “Flesh of My Flesh, Blood of My Blood,”Ludacris’ “Back For the First Time” album cover, Jay Z’s “Reasonable Doubt,” Ol’ Dirty Bastard’s “Ni**a Please,” and more. Amazingly, his work was done with a Polaroid camera.
The DJ was absolutely amazing and kept the crowd rocking while the crowd sipped to Ciroc cocktails and Red Stripe beer. The crowd was also decked out in their most fashionable summertime party gear and I met a few interesting people. Model Stevie Finedore (pictured below) wore a black andwhite dress, I saw lots of cutouts and crop tops, and othersummer essentials like maxi dresses, rompers and printed pants. Check out photos of what they wore and more of Mannion’s photography below. The exhibit is on until July 9th so check it out!
