One Dark Night

So not too long ago I went out wearing that Leau black romper and had a great time dancing to salsa. I love the summer because we can all let our hair down and enjoy the night without having to wear a coat. Unfortunately, that night I was attacked by a man in an alleged racially motivated incident. Most of the time, police are there to protect you but they aren’t perfect. Subsequently, I started hearing and seeing all kinds of things. I ended up being forced to a hospital where they did not protect me from COVID-19. So now I am recovering and contemplating the fate of this world. Been listening to Solange Knowles “Weary” song from her A Seat at the Table album.

Can you believe something like this would happen in 2021? Have you ever been mistreated like this? And what do you think of the world and our universe today?

Sincerely,

Don’t Forget about Dad

Good morning! I can’t believe it’s mid-June but Father’s Day is coming up and well, don’t forget about Dad! I’ve always been a daddy’s girl and I can’t wait to spend time with my father on Father’s Day. From playing with my dad’s belt (as pictured above) to attending my father’s non-profit Inner City Youth Golfers, Inc. (ICYG) events, I am still my father’s little girl. What are you planning to do for the holiday?

Nordstrom has a great Father’s Day gift guide and some of the items are on sale. I came across some great Luigi Bormioli tumblers that your Dad can use for his favorite drink for only $30 as well as a great Brixton hat that is currently 40% off. Walmart also has some great gifts that include grills, exercise equipment and more. Check out some of the gifts below and enjoy the day!

Sincerely,

Quarantine Life

So I hope this blog post finds you well. In the age of the coronavirus pandemic, we just have to be thankful for the little things. I think that’s what this year is trying to teach us. The project that I mentioned when I went down to Wynwood recently has been delayed due to the pandemic. And a lot of other things are up in the air. But that’s life right now. We can only take it one day at a time.

Are you registered to vote? If not, you can register here and perhaps we can make some changes in the world.

I’ve been holed up in West Palm Beach. Was supposed to be in New York today but had to postpone my trip. I’m actually really thankful to be in Florida. The weather has been beautiful. Anyway, have a good weekend and don’t forget to take care of yourself amidst everything going on.

Sincerely,

Self-Care during Stressful Times

So, a lot going on right now. It’s important during stressful times to take care of yourself even if it’s a really small thing that you do. Yesterday, I jogged in the park with my dog and it was an absolutely gorgeous day in Florida. It helped to unplug a bit and enjoy nature. So I thought making a list of things you can do to “self-care” during these times might be helpful.

  1. Take some time off from watching the news and other media
  2. Go jogging or walking in the nearest park
  3. If you’re creative, take some time to paint or sketch. You can do this with the whole family.
  4. Take a bubble bath
  5. Light a lovely aromatherapy candle. I really like those from Paddywax
  6. Cook or bake something new, this can also be a family activity
  7. Great time for game night in the house with your partner or family

What are some of the ways you’ve been able to cope with everything going on?

Sincerely,

“Fashionably-Late”
