Black Leather Look Remix with Tom Ford Knee-High

It’s officially Fall! Though it may still be kind of hot, you can’t help but get excited for boots, sweaters and coats! I just love my Tom Ford knee-high boots that I got from Bergdorf Goodman some time ago. This black leather look is perfect for the cool air that will be coming soon. Check out a few options below and happy Fall.

Army Green Wish Set

So I recently discovered Wish a website and app that features all kinds of merchandise for next to nothing! You order directly from China usually so it cuts out the middleman and makes the prices cheaper. I got this set for only $12. Now you would say that the quality was compromised right? Well, the set actually is a very good cotton and it hasn’t just fallen apart. I’m a fan of high and low fashion as long as we support our designers.

Anyway, this is a style perfect for the Fall. I paired the set with vintage Christian Louboutins from Bergdorf Goodman. Just layer it with your coats and jackets to be a little warmer in the snow!

Montauk Beach House Pool Party and Milly Resort 2014 Fashion Presentation

DSC00388

Last weekend I got plenty of sun in the nearly 100 degree weather at the Montauk Beach House. Michelle Smith showed her Milly Resort 2014 Collection in a beautiful fashion presentation by the pool, part of a summer-long music and fashion series hosted by the Montauk Beach House. It was an absolutely gorgeous day and last weekend, I was on the beach or by the pool for 80% of the time!

Singer-songwriter Natalia Kills performed and we enjoyed great drinks and music all Saturday afternoon. I just loved the bright, bold colors in the collection, not to mention that much of it looked really comfortable. Artwork seemed to influence Milly as some of the fabric seemed painted like that on the model above. Crop tops kept cropping up in Milly’s Resort 2014 Collection as well. I don’t think they’re going anywhere.

I wore a pink neon Eres itty-bitty bikini along with an exclusive purple hat from couture milliner Ellen Christine’s Spring 2014 Collection. By the way, if you want a couture hat of your own, she’s giving a 10% discount to blog readers. Just call her showroom and mention the blog.

While there I met a few from the Milly team, spotted some great poolside fashion and ran into Cannon Hodge of Bergdorf Goodman. She and her friend were wearing amazing kaftans from Camilla Franks that should be available at Bergdorfs in a few months. She showed me that this particular kaftan could be tied multiple ways for a causal or dressy look. Looks like it will be available soon at BG for about $500 or so.

Milly’s collection isn’t quite available yet but for some of the looks here, check out my Summer is in the Air Collection or Shopbop’s Best of Summer 2013.

Stopped by Bergdorf Goodman this Week to see Manolo Blahnik Unveil his Spring BB Collection

malindaknowles1-1

This week I stopped by Mahnolo Blahnik’s unveiling of his exclusive Spring BB Collection at Bergdorf Goodman. Impeccably dressed and wearing some beautiful blue shoes himself, he signed autographs and shoes for customers while attendees toasted champagne and nibbled on macaroons. Especially made famous by Sarah Jessica Parker’s character on Sex and the City, Manolo Blahnik has become a household name since joining the Bergdorf family in 1987.

Manolo wanted his classic BB pump, inspired by 1950s fashion and Brigitte Bardot, to remain sleek, simple and elegant. And, it comes and it definitely does! It comes in all kinds of colors and would probably have gone great with my Alexander McQueen dragonfly leggings. Check out more of the BB Collection here.

My favorite piece from Malandrino’s Spring 2013 Collection

I just love this leather vest from Catherine Malandrino’s Spring 2013 Collection. The details are beautiful and I just love the candy-colored, Spring pastel green color. Comes in ivory too. Looks like they’ll be in stores, especially at Bergdorf Goodman this Spring.

Diane von Furstenberg and Camilla Morton’s New Fairy Tale Book: The Empress’s New Clothes

DVFnewbook_malindaknowles

I remember when I first laid eyes on Diane’s collection, poking around the Fifth Floor at Bergdorf Goodman. I thought to myself, these prints are so cute, they kind of remind me of the 1970s. I ended up buying a blue dress that fit me like a glove and it is hard to fit my body perfectly.

My mother and grandmother were delighted to see it and asked who made it? I told them a new designer Diane von Furstenberg and received a chuckle from my mother. She explained that Diane was in no way a new designer; that she had been quite popular in the past with her iconic wrap dress.

Fast forward to today and I am still an avid DVF Fan. The clothes are so versatile; a number of pieces can go to work, a luncheon or a party.  And after reading Diane’s new fairy tale book, The Empress’s New Clothes, I see that this feeling has been shared among many people from the 1970s to today.

The book is based on the incredible life (and LOVE) of Diane von Furstenberg. It is written by a London-based fashion writer, Camilla Morton, and illustrated by The DVF Studio. I especially love this illustrated page of the Empress and her new clothes below.

I won’t spoil the book but I will say that it is no wonder that Diane is a global fashion icon, business mogul, president of CFDA, and an inspiration to women everywhere. She has a slew of awards and achievements, and has revolutionized the fashion world by making clothes ‘easy’ with her wrap dress still sold and worn today. I told Diane at her book signing event this week at Bergdorf’s that I wanted to have a brand like hers. She responded with cool confidence that I can “be the woman that I want to be.”

I am deeply moved and in awe of Diane von Furstenberg. This fairytale story based on Diane’s life is not just a fairytale. It is an inspirational piece for little girls and women alike, a tale of a princess with an entrepreneurial spirit and a few sample dresses in her suitcase. Congratulations Camilla and Diane, this is a book that I hope to pass down to future daughters in my family.
